Developing a confident user-friendly voice

Hello Everybody

I hope you are all well and had a good introduction to Summer, and boy is it here already  !!

The title of my blog said, developing a confident user-friendly voice.  I want to ask you all a question.  Have you listened to your voice?  Have you heard it?  I know that sounds silly but it is amazing how many of us do not really know what our voice sounds like.  We think of something to say, open our mouth and out it comes – we are not aware of how it sounds when it does come out.

A short while ago I was at a large meeting.  Listening to the people speak was very interesting. Now before I go any further, we are humans (I have said that before) and thereafter are all unique.  We sound, look, behave and act different, and we all should.  But – as I said, have you listened to yourself recently.  Do people smile when you talk ? or do they cringe ?  At this meeting I certainly cringed with some of them.

Developing a confident, user-friendly, pleasant easy to hear and understand voice is one of the best things you can do for yourself, especially if you are in business and have to sell yourself, and your product.  But even if not, just to get people interested in you and want to hear what you have to say is important enough.

Next time you speak, stop for a second, open your ears and listen to how you sound.  You will either smile, or you might cringe.  If the second one, now is the time to do something about it.  It’s in your best interests to want people to listen to you, not because they have to.

Take care, and until next time,   listen,   – to yourself.

Glenda
